Military Veterans Movement: Hunger Strike on 27 May 08

1. Brig CS Kamboj who was the convener of the Meeting on 19 May 08 in his emails 083/2008,085/2008 and 086/2008 Report My Signal has clarified your querry.
2. All events already planned will be held as scheduled.  27th May 08 Hunger Strike had already been planned and call given to All Veterans organizations/Veterans throughout the country.   All Military Veterans organizations/veterans in order to show solidarity have been requested to join in the effort.  However, those organizations who are not comfortable  with Hunger Strike could hold any other type of protest.  But all must hold the event on 27 May 08.
3.  On the suggestions given by Brig Gurmeet Kamal that instead of Hunger Strike, the word "Fast for Justice" should be used, well, the suggestion is good.  Organizations may call it       "Fast For Justice".
4.  As for as press is concerned, the word Hunger Strike had been flashed on the net and later a Press Note dated 13 May 08 had also been issued. Even if we say Fast for Justice, the press is calling it Hunger Strike. Let us not issue any amendments, which may be interpreted differently.  The general public understands the word Hunger Strike better.
5.  Since, Steering Committee had not yet been constituted, we still sent the draft Press Note to Brig CS Kamboj, convener of the Unity Meeting for his suggestions.  He, after a few changes sent the draft Press Note back which was then released to the press. The aim is to get maximum coverage of the media to strengthen our Movement.
6.  Unity is the main factor which will ensure success.  While, we continue to function in our respective organizations, LET US UNITE for the common causes, only then the Govt will listen to us.  So far, we have been taking actions in individual organizations/individuals.  Neither, the bureaucracy nor the Govt ever took us seriously.  They continued to degrade and humiliate us.  6th PCR crossed all limit and a "cause has appeared" for all veterans to unite and with one voice tell the Govt to meet all over genuine demands. Let us not allow this cause to fade away.  There is lot to be done.
7.  I, therefore, request RDOA and all veterans organization and veterans throughout the country to join in the efforts, and Must Reach India Gate Lawns on 27th May 08 at 10 AM.  All those who cannot reach Delhi, to please organise the event in your respective cities with maximum strength and maximum Media coverage. 
8.  All arrangements as per Gen Kadyan email to you are being made.
